Barny Barnicott

Barny started his career in the music industry in 1995 after leaving school & landing an entry level job at Orinoco Studios, London. He worked there for seven years, gaining knowledge from the experiences he had & the wide variety of styles & techniques he encountered.  

During his time at Orinoco Barny did every job that the studio had to offer making his way from tea boy to head engineer & working with a wide variety of well-known recording artists such as The Chemical Brothers, Oasis, Coldplay, Badly Drawn Boy & many more. 

In 2002, after meeting the music producer, Jim Abbiss, Barny left Orinoco to set up his own business & they subsequently worked together for many years with Jim producing & Barny recording and mixing. Jim & Barny’s partnership remains a fruitful one with credits including hit albums from the likes of Placebo, Suede, Stereophonics, Kasabian, Temper Trap & Arctic Monkeys debut album. 

Barny set up Blue Bell Hill Studios at Denmark House in 2007 & here he has continued to mix for a wealth of artists including Sam Fender, The 1975, Jungle & Franz Ferdinand. 

In 2014 Barny finished renovating the accommodation wing of the house & the studio has since become one of the most in-demand residential music recording & production facilities in the UK, hosting many top artists such as Stormzy, Nothing But Thieves, Mimi Webb, The Libertines & Pink Pantheress.
